Exam Season

Today it's not about drawing. As you may have already read, I'm still at school.
Currently I'm in the final exam phase. That's why I've hardly had any time to immerse myself in a creative project over the last few weeks.
The only time I've been able to draw is during a short break.

Today I'm sharing a few little study tips that have helped me a lot. It's not necessarily about learning itself, but how you can take good care of yourself to cope with the stress and pressure.

Kids Workshop

I had the privilege of leading another workshop in May. The 23 participants were aged between 10 and 13. I gave some tips and tricks on the subject of drawing people.

Improve Your Style

As the saying goes? Nothing comes from nothing and practice makes perfect.

As the saying goes? Nothing comes from nothing and practice makes perfect.
You never stop learning as an artist. And that's why it's still essential for me to take the time to practise, regardless of whether I'm working on a commission or not. Sometimes it's much more theoretical and involves a more in-depth examination of anatomy, sometimes it's a bit more fun and relaxed. Depending on which skill I'm focussing on.

Selling for the first time

As you may have already read in the previous blog post, I officially sold my own designs at a market stall for the first time at the end of April 2024.

The Story Behind My First Market Stand

About two months ago, I was asked if I could imagine organising a stand at the GODI Conference 2024.
I thought about it a few times, but then I said yes. I went for it because this year I have set myself the goal of creating more freely from my own inspiration again. To draw outside of commissioned work and realise my own projects. I wanted my drawings to reflect more of what was on my mind.
And I was adventurous enough to realise this stand.

How it all started

I started my first Instagram account a little over two years ago. For the first time, I shared what I was drawing all day with the world out there. Now, after two years, I'm quitting again. Even though it has taken me further in my artistic development.

A Letter To Yourself

We usually write letters to our loved ones. We write postcards from far away. We use letters to congratulate them on birthdays, graduations, weddings or births. We show love, sympathy, pride or offer comfort. We encourage and support each other.

Writing a letter to yourself can feel very strange or unfamiliar at first. Perhaps the thought alone puts you off. But maybe it could also help you.

Writing a letter to yourself can be a great tool for self-growth, healing, reflection, calming down and building resilience. I’ve collected some ideas you could use as writing prompts.

Why vlogging helps

A week ago I posted a vlog, just a summary of my week or what a week looks like. Not everything was in it, at least not everything. I forgot to film some things or I couldn't film everywhere. Before and after I wondered why.
I mean, who cares how I work at home at my workplace, what I work on, what it's like to go to school and study. Why am I doing this? I've realised that I'm mainly doing it for myself. Because it's actually boring to watch the videos. They're just clips and I don't say anything. But it helps me personally.

New Ideas

I finally had an idea!

I've already written about it several times in my story or discussed it in a video, in a blog post...

I have a hard time finding my kind of content on Instagram. I couldn't seem to find a way to showcase all my different types of content in a consistent and aesthetic way. Not to mention telling something deeper with it.

But I think I had an idea...

Update

I haven't posted that much in the last two weeks. Few stories and no YouTube videos. And above all, no blog posts for far too long. So here I am again, with a little update on what's been going on in my life.

Learning

Last year, I was offered many opportunities and was able to accept my first illustration commissions.

But there is still soooo much to learn. I don't know if it's the same for all artists, but it always feels like you're still at the very beginning of your own artistic journey.

For the next few months, I've picked out a few things I want to work on. Some of them are specific skills that I want to work on, sometimes it's something that I still have to find out for myself how it works.

Struggles

It's not easy for me to write or talk about it, but I think it's important to share this part of the process too. It is important to me, especially for those who may have the same challenges themselves, that they realise they are not alone. And for everyone else to realise that despite this, being able to draw is not everything.
