The Story Behind My First Market Stand
About two months ago, I was asked if I could imagine organising a stand at the GODI Conference 2024.
I thought about it a few times, but then I said yes. I went for it because this year I have set myself the goal of creating more freely from my own inspiration again. To draw outside of commissioned work and realise my own projects. I wanted my drawings to reflect more of what was on my mind.
And I was adventurous enough to realise this stand.

How it all started
I started my first Instagram account a little over two years ago. For the first time, I shared what I was drawing all day with the world out there. Now, after two years, I'm quitting again. Even though it has taken me further in my artistic development.
A Letter To Yourself
We usually write letters to our loved ones. We write postcards from far away. We use letters to congratulate them on birthdays, graduations, weddings or births. We show love, sympathy, pride or offer comfort. We encourage and support each other.
Writing a letter to yourself can feel very strange or unfamiliar at first. Perhaps the thought alone puts you off. But maybe it could also help you.
Writing a letter to yourself can be a great tool for self-growth, healing, reflection, calming down and building resilience. I’ve collected some ideas you could use as writing prompts.
Why vlogging helps
A week ago I posted a vlog, just a summary of my week or what a week looks like. Not everything was in it, at least not everything. I forgot to film some things or I couldn't film everywhere. Before and after I wondered why.
I mean, who cares how I work at home at my workplace, what I work on, what it's like to go to school and study. Why am I doing this? I've realised that I'm mainly doing it for myself. Because it's actually boring to watch the videos. They're just clips and I don't say anything. But it helps me personally.
New Ideas
I finally had an idea!
I've already written about it several times in my story or discussed it in a video, in a blog post...
I have a hard time finding my kind of content on Instagram. I couldn't seem to find a way to showcase all my different types of content in a consistent and aesthetic way. Not to mention telling something deeper with it.
But I think I had an idea...
Learning
Last year, I was offered many opportunities and was able to accept my first illustration commissions.
But there is still soooo much to learn. I don't know if it's the same for all artists, but it always feels like you're still at the very beginning of your own artistic journey.
For the next few months, I've picked out a few things I want to work on. Some of them are specific skills that I want to work on, sometimes it's something that I still have to find out for myself how it works.
Struggles
It's not easy for me to write or talk about it, but I think it's important to share this part of the process too. It is important to me, especially for those who may have the same challenges themselves, that they realise they are not alone. And for everyone else to realise that despite this, being able to draw is not everything.
Daynight
The sun has long gone down. It's getting late. As the streetlights illuminate the darkness, the world goes to sleep.
Only one window is still lit.
Here, too, someone is ready to go to bed. But the moment I close the laptop and am ready to quiet down and go to sleep, my head speaks up.
I've been busy all day and have blocked out all ideas for better or worse. Now, when everything else disappears from my thoughts, inspiration takes over. All tiredness and exhaustion disappear.
In the glow of hundreds of lights, I savour the peace and quiet of the night. I find the time to work on my own skills, to learn from the great masters.
Images that arise in my head want to be put on paper, words flow from my fingers to paper, thoughts have to be captured before they fly away again the next moment.
In these moments of inspiration and intuitive creation, any sense of tiredness or time is lost.
This is the time when night becomes day.
The Artist's Most Intimate
I'm starting a new series on YouTube tonight. In my new sketchbook, I have started to draw pictures with a short story, a thought or a short poem. Now I plan to film some of them. But see it yourself:

I have started a new sketchbook.
I write pictures for a short story, a thought or a poem.
