OOTD Sketchbook
Between the learning sessions, simply as a break in between, I also liked to draw in a sketchbook. I kept an OOTD - Outfit Of the day sketchbook. I drew lots of outfits and mini-mes in it. It's a good opportunity for me to practise, stay in practice, try out new things and also draw more freely than when I'm working on commissioned pieces where I'm given a brief of what to illustrate.
Making Of Märlistadt
First Vlog
My First Vlog Is Online!
Today I uploaded my first real vlog to Youtube, one in which I speak and in which I can be seen.
I started filming the video several times, but never followed through. But at some point I got to the point where I finished it within 10 minutes. So the filming. With the editing and so on, I needed a bit more time.
And also until I really had the courage to upload it. But I decided to do it.
And now I'm excited about what's to come. Which videos I will be able to shoot for VivisVorld and how many vlogs will follow.
Thank you for being with me on this journey!
First Course
My First Procreate Workshop
I had the great opportunity to teach a course on Procreate a month ago. Within 3 hours I showed what can be accomplished with Procreate, which functions are available and what is the easiest way to draw rain and snow, how to create a great paper structure or what is the difference between masking, alpha lock and clipping mask.
I really enjoyed sharing my knowledge and it was a great experience to see how confident I have become in using this app over the last three years.
I hope that there will be another opportunity to share my knowledge in a workshop in the future. Who knows what else will be possible.
Holidays
It's been a long time...
I'm finally writing a blog post again. Woohoo!
There's been a lot going on since my last blogpost. I've been working a lot for school. And I was able to lead and run my first official workshop on Procreate. But maybe I'll tell you about that in another blogpost.
Today it's all about the holidays. I spent part of my holidays in Italy. It was my first holiday in Italy and it inspired me a lot to have something new in front of my camera lens. Below I share some pictures and impressions. Enjoy!
First T-shirt Design
A little over a month ago, the T-shirts were printed and sold.
It was the first design of mine to be printed on t-shirts. And it was just a special experience that I wanted to capture. The first time I see people enjoying their new t-shirt, wearing it and yes, my drawing is printed on the t-shirt.
Now I have even more wish to make more t-shirt designs... :)
Drawing Session
We went on a short hike with our family and friends. I enjoyed having my sketchbook with me to sketch elsewhere than at home.
Always ready
Just a quick insight from me.
Maybe it sounds trivial, but since I make an effort to have my camera as close as possible, I have managed to capture short beautiful moments much more often.
It is important to take the camera not only for planned shoots and or trips. Even from home or from the hotel room, etc. I can already capture many small details. And I've learned that I may only take one photo, but for that one it's still worth getting the camera.
Buchtipps
I'm writing this blogpost in German because I only own German drawing books. I'll list which books I own and which I can particularly recommend.
Paper and Sketchbook
When drawing on paper, it can make a huge difference whether you use a suitable paper or not. There are a few very simple tips:
For watercolours, it is best to use slightly thicker paper. Whether it's more like 120 g/m2 or 200g/m2 or even firmer is based on personal preference. There are rougher and smoother papers. I sometimes use one or the other.
For handlettering projects with brush pens and felt pens, I would choose a rather smooth-coated paper because the felt tips break more quickly when you write with them on rough paper. The paper should not be too fibrous so that the felt tip pen does not run.
I usually use paper from Hahnemühle or Canson. My sketchbooks are mainly from Moleskine.
Sketchbooks are a great way to keep drawings already bound. You don't have to file sheets. It can be especially helpful when you're going through a creativity block and you can look through old sketchbooks to see how you've developed and realise that maybe you're not as bad as you think you are.
I hope this has helped you a little.
Be inspired and blessed!
Bottle Design
Hi there! Finally I'm writing a blog post again. This time it's about products development. In art class we first had to design a bottle label and then take product photos. If you just want to see the final result, you just have to scroll all the way down.
