Watercolour Pumpkins

Summer has faded, autumn is here. I have filled a new page in my sketchbook, inspired by all the beautiful pumpkins you can harvest at the moment.

The sketch

First I sketched the font centred in the middle, then I added different pumpkins to the page. The sketch is made with a pencil, which smudges very quickly when it comes into contact with water. So I don't have to erase anything after watercolouring.

I used different reference pictures for sketching the pumpkins. They helped me to find out which pumpkins I could draw.

As soon as I had a usable sketch, I coloured the pumpkins. I paid special attention to where the shadows were and where the highlights were. It also looks better if the whole pumpkin is not the same shade, but if a few different tones are used.
