Improve Your Style

As the saying goes? Nothing comes from nothing and practice makes perfect.

As the saying goes? Nothing comes from nothing and practice makes perfect.
You never stop learning as an artist. And that's why it's still essential for me to take the time to practise, regardless of whether I'm working on a commission or not. Sometimes it's much more theoretical and involves a more in-depth examination of anatomy, sometimes it's a bit more fun and relaxed. Depending on which skill I'm focussing on.

Recently, I drew some pictures for which I used a reference and adopted quite a lot of it directly for the line drawing. Above all, I wanted to practise my style, develop it further and refine it a little. I would say that I have developed a relatively consistent illustration style over the last year, despite the many different motifs. But it's changing a little bit all the time and that's how it will always be.

I'm not really a Disney girl at all, I've hardly seen any Disney movies and I don't even know the names of many of the characters I've already drawn. Nevertheless, every now and then I like to look for a picture from a Disney film and then modernise it, rework the dresses and give the princesses new hairstyles. It's a fun exercise for days when I'm otherwise not so inspired or crave a bit of casual drawing.
