Christmas Card Nr. 2

Christmas will be here soon. So I thought I would make some examples of my favourite Christmas card ideas. Here comes idea number 2. Cute and easy watercolour illustrations on a uni postcard.

Material

  • uni Postcard
  • White paper for the watercolour illustration
  • Watercolours
  • Brush
  • Glue
  • scissors

My tip
Use different shades of the colour you want your subject to have. For example for the fir, use a warmer, a colder, a darker and a lighter green. So that your subject doesn't seem flat and boring. As I said before, pay attention to the shadows and highlights.
Another simple tip is to use stickers instead of glue, which leave a little gap between the card and the illustration, it will stand out even more.

Step 1
Sketch a fir, a candle or whatever you like.

Step 2
Colourise it with your watercolours. Pay attention to highlights and shadows, it will look more realistic.

Step 3
Cut out your subject and glue it on the card.
